Rajasthan government relaxes family planning norms
The Rajasthan state government has relaxed the law that bans government employees from having a third child.
Until now, government employees in Rajasthan were banned from having more than two children. The state government has decided to permit government servants to have a third child, but the relaxation applies only for those who have remarried.
The decision was made at the cabinet meeting presided over by the Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundara Raje.
The legislation prohibiting government servants from having more than two children was passed in the year 2000. According to the rule, persons with three or more children were disqualified from government jobs. Those who had their third child after getting the job were denied promotions and certain benefits.
